Context / environment : Outdoor LED Wall for Eurydice

The city of Garges-lès-Gonesse sought partners to provide LED screens and an audio setup for the European Football Cup and the Olympic Games in Paris, creating an outdoor, green, and inviting environment for spectators.

In addition to live sports screenings, the city aimed to develop a vibrant space featuring arcade games and entertainment areas for children, ensuring a fun and engaging atmosphere for all visitors throughout the two-month event.

The primary objective was to bring people together during the summer and offer the best possible setup to broadcast French sports channels live. The chosen LED screen needed to accommodate at least 1,000 spectators, meeting the city’s expectations for an optimal viewing experience.

The event is mostly free, with some paid activities available. In collaboration with Eurydice, we carefully analyzed various LED screen options. Taking into account the required specifications, timeline, and budget, we shortlisted the most suitable solutions to meet the project’s needs.

Solution to install a Suspended Outdoor LED Wall

The objective was to install an outdoor LED screen with optimal size and resolution to ensure high-quality broadcasting of football matches and other 16:9 format videos. Given the nature of outdoor displays, key factors such as brightness, refresh rate, pixel pitch, and protection were carefully considered.
Initially, a 15m² screen was deemed sufficient based on the estimated audience size. After evaluating various options, we selected the LRS P3.9, which met the project’s technical and environmental requirements.

The chosen LED screen features:

– 6000 nits brightness for excellent visibility in outdoor conditions

– 1000x500mm aluminum cabinets for durability and ease of installation
– 3840 Hz refresh rate ensuring smooth, high-quality image display

This setup guarantees an immersive viewing experience while maintaining reliability throughout the event.

Challenge to optimize the visiblity

The first major challenge was aligning the LED screen selection with the end client’s budget and technical requirements for the live broadcast of the events in Paris. The screen needed to be outdoor-rated, CE-certified, lightweight, high-brightness, and specifically designed for rental applications.

The second challenge was designing a robust outdoor truss structure capable of supporting the screen for two months, covering both the European Football Cup and the Olympic Games. The structure had to be elevated high enough to ensure clear visibility from 50 meters away for an audience of 1,000 or more, while also withstanding all weather conditions, including strong winds and storms.

To meet these requirements, we selected a truss system that allowed the screen to be suspended from a minimum height of 2 meters above the ground, ensuring optimal visibility from a distance. Additionally, Eurydice equipped the LED screen setup with a powerful sound system, delivering an immersive audio experience and fully engaging visitors in the excitement of the Paris Olympic Games.

Impact : Outdoor LED Wall

The city of Garges-lès-Gonesse made a significant impact, generating buzz in newspapers and on television thanks to its impressive free audio and video setup for visitors.

In addition to the cutting-edge LED screen installation, the venue featured entertainment areas for children, ensuring a lively and engaging atmosphere for families. Since the event took place during the summer, special water-based activities were introduced to help children stay cool and hydrated, while adults could enjoy refreshments in a relaxed setting, allowing kids to have fun independently.

Following this success, Garges-lès-Gonesse plans to repurpose these LED screens annually for future events, maximizing their investment and continuing to enhance community experiences.
